Building standards

Water efficiency isn’t an afterthought at JGU—it’s built into our infrastructure. Every new and renovated building incorporates water-efficient designs, such as dual plumbing systems, low-flow taps, and hot water recirculation. We also use precast construction materials whenever possible, which reduces water use during construction and enhances resource efficiency.

These initiatives ensure that our buildings don’t just meet functional needs but also contribute to long-term sustainability. Students, faculty, and visitors see first-hand how responsible design can conserve water without compromising comfort or aesthetics.

Preventive Measures:

  • Water leaks or seepages are immediately attended to or plugged in to prevent water wastage.
  • Water meters are installed on all distribution lines to identify consumption, losses, and leaks, which helps achieve water conservation.

Standards for Water Conservation:

  • Use of hand faucets
  • Self-closing taps
  • Dual-flush toilets
  • Use of auto-sense urinals
  • Sprinklers for horticulture

Water Reuse Measures:

  • Use of STP treated water
  • Hot water circulation pump
  • Water metres to monitor reuse efficiency
  • Rainwater recharge pits
