Appeal process

Our university has established a robust appeal process that upholds our commitment to employee rights and organizational fairness. Staff have the right to formally challenge decisions related to recruitment, promotion, disciplinary actions, or grievance resolutions through written appeals. These appeals are reviewed by independent committees, including specialists from our Gender Sensitization Against Sexual Harassment Committee (COGSASH) (Link) and Anti-Discrimination bodies (Link) ensuring impartiality and expertise.

Staff members may be accompanied by a representative of their choice during appeal hearings. They receive written communication explaining the outcome and rationale for each decision. If the complainant or respondent is dissatisfied with the disciplinary action or if COGSASH does not take action on a complaint, they have the right to escalate the appeal to the Vice Chancellor of the University as described in our Faculty Handbook (Page 31).

This highest level of appeal provides administrative oversight and final remedies, ensuring all concerns are addressed with seriousness and impartiality. Our appeal process operates on clearly defined timelines and procedures, fostering accountability and transparent governance. Through this system, our university guarantees that employee voices are heard, enhancing workplace confidence and nurturing a respectful, equitable institutional culture.
