Scholarships and mentorships

Scholarships and mentorship programs at JGU form the cornerstone of our commitment to advancing women’s academic participation and leadership. These targeted financial awards play a transformative role in alleviating economic barriers, enabling women from diverse and marginalized backgrounds to access the highest quality higher education opportunities. 

A prime example is the Shallu Jindal Outstanding Women Scholarships, specifically established to nurture and support exceptional women who aspire to careers in law. Each year, these scholarships are awarded based on an independent and rigorous selection process open to students in the three-year LL.B. program, the five-year B.A./B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) program, and the one-year LL.M. program. Winners receive a significant award covering 50% of their one-year program fee, making a legal education more accessible for talented women. In addition, a substantial number of selected students across programs receive studentships ranging from 10% to 75% of tuition fees, determined on a merit-cum-means basis according to university rules. 

Further extending our dedication to equitable access, the Savitri Jindal Merit Cum Means Fellowship offers essential financial support for outstanding women who face barriers to affording full tuition fees, particularly those enrolled in the M.A. (DLB) programme. The university guarantees that not less than 40% of the program’s intake will benefit from this fellowship each year, with half of these awardees receiving a scholarship covering 30% of tuition fees. This initiative ensures that a multitude of talented, hardworking women can pursue their aspirations regardless of financial constraints. 

These financial supports are complemented by JGU’s robust mentorship initiatives, which pair women students and early-career academics with experienced faculty, industry leaders, and accomplished alumni who provide guidance, career counseling, and networking opportunities. The university also organizes structured workshops on leadership development, negotiation skills, and gender empowerment—creating an environment where women can build confidence, professional acumen, and resilience. 

In addition, partnerships with international organizations such as UN Women and the Girl Up Foundation help extend the reach of mentorship beyond campus, connecting our students with a vibrant global network of professional women. Through a dynamic synergy of scholarships and mentorship, JGU ensures that every woman on campus benefits from holistic support, be it financial, academic, and psychosocial, nurturing their long-term success and empowering each to contribute meaningfully to society.
